MGM has slated Drew Goddard's (Cloverfield) latest project, The Cabin In The Woods, for release October 23, 2009, although early announced dates like these rarely stick. In addition, MGM is putting the film out a week before Lionsgate's Saw VI, which will hit theaters on October 30th. I'm not quite sure it's such a good idea to let them go head-to-head as Jigsaw will ruin Goddard's (short) camping trip. Woods is being co-written by fan fav Joss Whedon. No details have been released for either film. Saw VI will be written by Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton with franchise editor Kevin Greutert behind the lens.
