Shot with live actors then completely rotoscoped in black and white (like A Scanner Darkly) Alois Nebel is an odd film I've been tracking out of the Czech Republic. It's based on some comics of the same name by Jaroslav Rudiš and Jaromir 99 (weird name huh?) and is directed by Tomas Lunak. The story revovles around a man who has spent his whole life working in the railways. From what I can gather from a translation:
"It is the end of the eighties. Alois Nebel works as a signaller in a small station. Alois Nebel is a loner. His days at the station are peaceful until .. (can't figure this part out). Since then strange things happen and he begins to have hallucinations. "
The animation itself looks incredible, but the story itself sounds fascinating. If any of our Czech readers could provide more info on this, please do so in the comments.
