Can Leo Beat Reaper?

7 January 2009 6:05 PM, PST

Leo DiCaprio is perhaps my favorite leading man in our mixed up little world. I love him like I love a good tender piece of pork belly in a caper and fennel broth. And I know I will love his next starring role in Beat The Reaper, a new film based on the hottly anticipated novel by first-time author Josh Bazell. Leo will play a Manhattan emergency room doctor, whose life becomes complicated when a mobster recognizes the doc from his former life as a hitman who went into the witness...

Eng. Chun Li trailer

7 January 2009 4:15 PM, PST

The Japanese voice-over-ed trailer for the upcoming video game based Street Fighter: The Legend Of Chun Li surfaced about a week ago and if you weren't happy with the Japanese stylings of Mr. Voice Over Guy then IGN has debuted the English language domestic trailer. It's basically the same thing with maybe a few new snippets added here and there. In the film, Kristin Kreuk plays the titular martial arts expert who goes up against bad guy Bison (Neal McDonough) because he's a total douche....

Lautner in New Moon

7 January 2009 4:04 PM, PST

With Twilight now being a bonafide international smash, there were rumors that the franchise's producers were looking to replace Taylor Lautner as the lycanthropic Jacob Black, who takes center stage in the sequel New Moon, with a more audience friendly "name" actor. Which sucked for tween fangirls pining away for more Lautner and, of course, for Lautner himself since he'd be out of a job. However, Twilight mastermind Stephanie Meyer recently received confirmation from New Moon...

Meet the Minutemen

7 January 2009 3:54 PM, PST

The tenth video journal for the upcoming Zack Snyder directed, Alan Moore adapted Watchmen has made its way online for all our viewing pleasure. This one focuses on the masked vigilantes who started the masked vigilante movement in the film's universe - The Minutemen. You'll meet such classic superheroes as Hooded Justice, Dollar Bill, Captain Metropolis, the original Nite Owl, The Comedian (who's murder is the catalyst for the events in the film) and, of course, the ever so gorgeous original...

No Fright Night remake

7 January 2009 2:04 PM, PST

There are so damn many remakes getting stuffed into the pipeline, it's almost impossible to keep track of them all. For example, I'd practically forgotten an update of the memorable 80s vampire flick Fright Night was in the works. But that's apparently one less to worry about (for the moment), according to Styd, who says that the remake has been staked. It seems that Screen Gems couldn't sink their fangs into a script they liked, and so the update has been stuffed in the coffin for now. The...

Send Bloody Valentine

7 January 2009 1:47 PM, PST

Since Jason Voorhees already jammed his machete into Valentine's Day weekend, that "holiday" of unconditional love and murderous miners comes a bit early this year. Why not celebrate Lionsgate and director Patrick Lussier's tri-dimensional remake of My Bloody Valentine with a personalized video note to your favorite humanoid? Click Here or below to do so. The flick punctures people with pickaxes on January 16th!

Dredd concept art

7 January 2009 1:28 PM, PST

As we recently learned, Mega City One's legendary lawman Judge Dredd is coming back to theaters, and he's pretending he never heard of Sylvester Stallone. Well, the people behind the new Judge Dredd flick, production company DNA Films (Sunshine, 28 Days Later) and UK comic house 2000Ad, are already kicking around ideas for how they want the movie to look. Artist "Jock" (whose comic experience actually includes time on 2000Ad) has drawn up some concept art, which they got their...

Mickey in Iron Man 2!

7 January 2009 11:01 AM, PST

After resuscitating the career of Robert Downey, Jr., the Iron Man franchise is looking to do the same with another former down-and-out star. Mickey Rourke is in talks to star as the lead villain in Iron Man 2 for director Jon Favreau. While no in involved with the production would confirm it, Variety is reporting that Rourke's villain would be Crimson Dynamo. There are too many Crimson Dymano's to count but the general theme will be that Rourke will play a Russian equivalent of Tony Stark...

Watchmen decision when?

7 January 2009 6:30 AM, PST

Mark January 20th down on your calendar. And not just as a reminder that it's Lorenzo Lamas' birthday (though don't forget to send him a card again this year). That's the day when we'll learn whether the Watchmen will be allowed to hit theaters on March 6th as planned or if Fox has successfully blocked the release in favor of a trial by jury. Both lawyers for Fox and Warner Bros. have agreed to let Judge Gary A. Feess decide whether to let WB proceed with the release as planned or if the...

Lena Headey directs

7 January 2009 3:40 AM, PST

Lena Headey (300) will make her feature directing debut with Kill Drug. The film will be a dark thriller about an underground society dedicated to murdering social ingrates, nincompoops and scallywags. Headey herself will star as a woman who murdered her abusive husband and then finds a vigilante network into which she is recruited. Jason Flemyng and Charlotte Rampling are also attached. Yeah, Lena Headey getting behind the camera, that's a great idea. We're keeping Dane Cook in front of it though? Sweet.

2009 Uni preview!

7 January 2009 3:39 AM, PST

So we've taken a look at what Paramount, Warner Bros., Disney and Sony Pictures have for us in 2009 (not to mention our own picks for what we're looking forward to most in 2009). Now it's time to see what Universal and Rogue Pictures are up to. It's a pretty diverse slate that goes from a Wes Craven horror film to a Will Ferrell comedy to a drama about 60s British DJs. Check em all out below... Duplicity (March 20) CIA officer Claire Stenwick (Julia...

Razzie Nominees

7 January 2009 2:39 AM, PST

I have a real love-hate relationship with The Razzies. On the one hand I love it when people I hate win, but on the other I think those dudes run a little sensationalist with their awards. I mean yeah 88 Minutes is a piece of shit but not on his worst day, hung-over, after being struck my a wrecking ball and having just found out that his entire family died, could Al Pacino ever be as bad as to be nominated alongside Larry The Cable Guy. Still, here are the nominations: Worst Picture: Speed...

Think you're McLovin?

7 January 2009 2:37 AM, PST

Think you've got the comedic chops to be the next McLovin? Looking for that way to break into Hollywood? Well at the risk of sounding like a bad infomercial, have I got an opportunity for you!! Universal Pictures is holding an open casting call for a role in their upcoming Untitled Nancy Meyers Comedy starring Meryl Streep, Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin. The film is about a divorced woman who starts dating again only to have her jealous ex-husband come back and try to woo her again. But...

Broken Lizard trailer

7 January 2009 1:18 AM, PST

I'm not sure what to think about this next Broken Lizard film Slammin' Salmon. Their first film, Supertroopers, was quality but Club Dread was absolutely awful and Beerfest was just Ok (and the less said about Dukes Of Hazzard, the better). Could this be a return to form? Collider has posted a red-band trailer for Salmon and it looks like it's got a few laughs. But can this hold up for an entire movie? The film stars Michael Clark Duncan as a former boxer and current restaurant owner who...

Int: Odette Yustman

7 January 2009 12:55 AM, PST

What.s not to like about Odette Yustman?  She is stunningly attractive, she digs horror movies and she is one of those girls that you could hang out with and a have a fun conversation.  And she also happens to be pretty damn talented.  It isn.t really a surprise to me after her work on the series .October Road. and of course Cloverfield she is given the opportunity to carry a film.  And frankly, she does it quite well.  The Unborn features Odette in nearly every scene and she gets to...

Sunny, Clean Poster

6 January 2009 8:46 PM, PST

Amy Adams and Emily Blunt may be the most adorable pair of actresses to team up for a film since Carmella Bing and Shyla Stylez did it 2 years ago. Their new dramedy Sunshine Cleaning stars the two women as sisters who start a biohazard removal/crime scene clean-up service for some extra cash. Hilarity and heartbreak surely ensue. The film is from the producers of Little Miss Sunshine, who obviously have a thing for the word "sunshine", but who also recognize a good story when they see one, so count me in. Check out the poster below.

Tron Finds Lead

6 January 2009 8:37 PM, PST

And just like that, another star is born. Garrett Hedlund has been cast as the lead in the sequel to the 1982 sci-fi classic Tron. The sequel, long referred to as Tron 2, or TR2N, is now simply called Tron as well. Producers cast their search far and wide for the effects-laden film's lead, once considering the likes of Ryan Gosling and Chris Pine for the role. Looks like they were feeling generous, choosing instead to cast relative unknown Hedlund into the sudden spotlight. Previously...

McG Finds Nemo

6 January 2009 8:19 PM, PST

Terminator Salvation hasn't even come out yet, and already Hollywood is all over McG's jock. Apparently the big budget director had multiple studios vying for his next slot, with Disney eventually winning the battle to end all battles (sorry Thermopylae). McG will direct 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea: Captain Nemo for the studio, an origin story of Jules Verne's infamous Captain Nemo, as he creates his warship, the Nautilus. I'll bet Disney is licking their lips with this one, which has...
