Tom and Katie Are Busy but Caring

Tom Cruise went out solo last night while Kate Holmes performed one of her final shows on Broadway before she was spotted transporting a sleepy Suri to the car today. Tom must have hugged his kids a little tighter this week after his good friend John Travolta suffered the loss of his son Jett. While Tom has apparently sent his condolences, he won't be able to make tomorrow's memorial service as he is set to appear on The View. From there, Tom is off to La to attend the Golden Globes on Sunday - fill out your ballot now - but before then he has time to squeeze in a couple more nights of watching Katie on stage. Steve Martin hit the waves running on vacation in St. Barts with his wife and friends including Martin Short yesterday. The boys seemed to be having a blast on the beach and in the gorgeous blue water. It's Steve's fifth holiday season in a row spent in the tropical location. After his funny guest starring stint on 30 Rock the next time we'll see Steve's classic humor on-screen is in the new Pink Panther movie due out this year. At 63, he may be a tad older than some of the usual shirtless men we feature here, but we've got lots of love for Steve and his fun-looking vacation. Christian Has Many Opportunities to Cheer on The Dark Knight

Christian Bale went incognito with his baseball hat and scruffy goatee while out and about La on Monday. The third most profitable actor of the year has more blockbusters ahead, but these next few months are about looking back on 2008. The Dark Knight was recognized by the Producers Guild of America as a nominee for Best Picture and it's up for multiple awards at tonight's People's Choice Awards, tomorrow's Critics Choice Awards, not to mention Sunday's Golden Globes (don't forget to fill out a ballot now). Since a few of those ensemble acting nods include Mr. Bale, there's a good chance one of those red carpets is going to require a shave. Source

Michael Phelps showed off his still ripped body on the beach in Miami yesterday. He seemed to be having a blast running around with a football and trying out a few familiar poses in the sand. The fun of his amazing ride through 2008 hasn't worn off just yet and while his partying may have turned some fans off, he's set to get back in the pool sometime this month. The holiday season may be over, but we couldn't resist sharing these adorable photos of Britney and her boys all dressed up for Bryan's wedding on New Year's Eve. 2009 means another fresh start for Britney, and she's starting the year off with her dad as official permanent conservator. While we think having her father in control may be best for Britney's well-being, apparently the decision was made when she discovered she couldn't insure her upcoming tour without Jamie's conservatorship. Now that everything is in place, we can't wait to hear more about her tour - despite the rumors that the pop star is still having some rehearsal trouble.

All charges were dismissed against Josh Brolin and Jeffrey Wright after they were arrested in a bar brawl with cops in Shreveport last July. - TMZ The woman who unknowingly acted as a decoy for Jamie Lynn Spears is suing the Lax police department for $2 million to compensate her for the "humiliation, fear and harassment" she felt after being swarmed by paparazzi. - E! The Palm Springs International Film Festival kicked off last night with their awards gala attended by some of the most acclaimed stars of the year. They screened Dustin Hoffman's new movie Last Chance Harvey and honored Hoffman, Sean Penn, and the cast of Revolutionary Road among others. Thankfully a sun-kissed from Cabo Leo made the trek to represent his movie. Dakota Fanning looked absolutely lovely and grown up in blue while Anne Hathaway traded in her dramatic hair and pantsuit for a Lbd. Should John Comment on Pete and Ashlee's Relationship?

John Mayer has been good at keeping his opinions to himself recently, but in an upcoming interview with Blender magazine, he shares his thoughts regarding his Bff Pete Wentz's relationship with Ashlee Simpson. He said, "To have this beautiful relationship with someone who gets attacked so often, and to handle it with such grace and respect - I just find that really impressive." John's in a strange position to comment, having dated Ashlee's sister, Jessica. Plus, it seems like a bit of a backhanded compliment that insults Ashlee. Ryan Gosling Wants to Earn His Music Cred, Thanks

Ryan Gosling continued to liven up the La music scene as a guest DJ at Bardot in La again last night. Wonder if he took a chance to spin any of his own new music from his band, Dead Man's Bones, which seems to be a crowd pleaser considering your positive reaction toward the first music video. Ryan and his bandmate Zach Shields have been actively promoting their music on MySpace, including a free MP3 of the single, though the boys got a bit huffy when Ryan was included on the celebrity pages part of the social network site, since he isn't looking to use his acting to sell the band. However fans find it, Ryan and Zach's music is a little more interesting than the usual celebrity pop music, so it won't be long until they pick up fans who love more than just The Notebook - not
