Mark Millar and J.G. Jones’ comic book series “Wanted” turns into a sensational on-screen actioner and now arrives on Blu-ray. Since I missed this one on the big screen, I was absolutely thrilled by the nonstop, high-octane thrills under the meticulous direction of Russian helmer Timur Bekmambetov (“Night Watch,” “Day Watch”). Wesley Gibson (multi-talented James McAvoy) is a nothing. He lives in a broken down apartment, works at a dead end job under an overweight Nazi of a boss called Janice (Lorna Scott) who constantly undermines him and he’s too much of a sissy to ditch his girlfriend of quite some time who’s screwing the annoying co-worker posing as his best pal. On top of that, he has panic attacks which require medication or his heart beats to a rhythm of 400 a strikes a minute. We’re told his father hit the road when Wesley was a mere

First ever winner of the Orange Rising Star Award, James McAvoy has flipped to the other side of the coin by judging this year's nominees. Following his win in 2006, his Hollywood career has gone from strength to strength, seeing him take the lead in Atonement and Wanted. Now in its fourth year, the award went to Eva Green in 2007 and last time to Shia Labeouf. It was set up in memory of BAFTA-winning casting director Mary Selway, who launched many careers during her long and distinguished career, working on films such as Gosford Park, Master And Commander and Withnail & I. This award is the only BAFTA voted for by the public, but today the panel, including McAvoy and Empire's very own Editor At Large Nev Pierce, cast their votes to select the shortlist. "Wanted" co-writer Chris Morgan tells MTV he is getting ready to pen the sequel. According to Morgan, Universal Pictures is in the final stages of negotiating a deal with graphic novel creator Mark Millar for a sequel to the June 2008 film. Where will the sequel pick up? Morgan says "the point is to continue the journey that Wes (James McAvoy) started in the first film. Wherever he ended up at the end of the film, now it's time to move him forward." "There's a natural journey that Wes needs to take," he continued, adding that the sequel "is going to be opened up to be more global." Universal has not set a release date for "Wanted 2" yet....

I love me some Ridley Scott and I love me some Monopoly, but why do I have a sinking feeling in my gut about what happens when the two of them collide? According to Variety, Ridley Scott will direct Universal Pictures’ big screen version of Hasbro’s Monopoly board game from a script by Pamela Pettler. Pettler has penned “Monster House,” “The Corpse Bride” and “9," which Tim Burton and “Wanted"-helmer Timur Bekmambetov are producing. Scott, who recently helmed Warner Bros.’ ”Body of Lies” has long been attached to the project. He will produce with Hasbro topper Brian Goldner. “Monopoly" is set up at Universal Pictures, which has a first-look deal with Hasbro to develop movies based on the company’s line of toys. Those include “Ouija,” which Platinum Dunes is developing, and “Battleship.” Hasbro jumped into the adaptation game after successfully turning its “Transformers” toys into a franchise at DreamWorks and Paramount.

reports that graphic novels tied to feature film release saw a massive increase in third quarter sales.
“Sales of the Watchmen graphic novel exploded after the trailer hit theaters and it will clearly be the number one graphic novel of 2008, but a number of Batman-related graphic novels including The Killing Joke and The Dark Knight Returns also showed huge increases in sales, while Mark Millar’s Wanted graphic novel published by Top Cow clearly benefited from having a hit movie adaptation,” the site noted.
As the summer features arrive on DVD for the holidays, additional trade sales are anticipated. Marvel cannily released additional Iron Man product when the related DVD came out September 29.
Manga did not suffer according to the site’s analysis, saying “Viz Media’s shojo series Vampire Knight, the top Manga series to debut in 2007 gained strength in 2008 and Viz Media also has one of the

After expressing interest in directing everything from the an adaptation of Valiant’s Harbinger to a feature film based on Guitar Hero, director Brett Ratner has finally chosen his next projects.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Rater is about to sign a deal to direct a new Conan the Barbarian film. The film will be co-produced by Nu Image/Millennium and Lionsgate Films. Conan was the subject of two films starring Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 1980s and has been a frequent candidate for additional features ever since but the rights went from studio to studio with no traction. John Milius, who cowrote the first film with Oliver Stone, has had a much admired King Conan script in development for years now.
Fans of Axel Foley can rest assured that the fourth film in the Beverly Hills Cop series is still likely to hit the cameras first for Paramount Pictures. Screenwriters

Chris Morgan confirmed he will be writing the sequel to Wanted for Universal. He spoke with MTV and said, “Yes, I will be writing it. I’m actually leaving this conversation with you to go to a meeting with the director, Timur [Bekmambetov], and we’re talking about the story.”
Despite confirming interest in a sequel to June’s action thriller starring Angelina Jolie, Universal continues to negotiate with writer Mark Millar who wrote the original comic miniseries, with artist J.G. Jones. A deal is said to be imminent.
“As far as I know, the studio is finishing their deal with Mark [Millar], and then we’re all going to get together and collaborate,” said Morgan, a longtime comics fan. “And that’s something I’m very excited about.”
After all, the movie deviated from the comic, creating its own mythology and now has to explore new facets of that world. Terence Stamp

This isn't the first time we've heard some news surrounding the Wanted sequel. In fact, writers Michael Brandt and Derek Haas mentioned they were already working on a sequel before the first one had even hit theaters. Right now we're just waiting for them to flesh out a story and set a production start date. MTV recently spoke with Chris Morgan, who also mentioned that he is back again working on the sequel, which just about makes that everyone who was involved with the first one. Morgan was the third screenwriter listed, which leads me to believe he's polishing up some early drafts laid out by Brandt and Haas. But Morgan chimes in with a few very vague hints as to where the story might be heading next. Morgan teases MTV saying that "I'm actually leaving this conversation with you to go to a meeting with the director, Timur [Bekmambetov], and

The folks over at Latino Review have a first look at actor Gerald Okamura in costume as The Hard Master from the upcoming G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra. Chris Morgan, who adapted Mark Millar’s Wanted for the big screen, recently confirmed to MTV that he’s getting ready to star writing the sequel. As challenging as it is to write the follow-up movie to "Wanted (2008)", screenwriter Chris Morgan apparently has had ideas in mind for "Wanted 2". Confirming to MTV about his return to the sequel, the writer of "Fast and Furious" hints on where the story will be brought, seeing that most of the characters in the first film are dead.
"That is the challenge here," Morgan points out the difficulty in making the second "Wanted" film before continuing to share his insight saying, "but the point is to continue the journey that Wes started in the first film. Wherever he ended up at the end of the film, now it's time to move him forward." Furthermore, he suggests that the sequel will be "opened up to be more global".
Other than talking about continuing the assassin story, he reveals that creator Mark Millar is in final talks with Universal Pictures for the sequel deal.

I enjoyed the hell out of Wanted. It had everything I was looking for out of it, and only a few things I could have totally done without. This is where fans of the graphic novel chime in and talk about how the movie is garbage and it doesn't follow this, that, and the other thing. And maybe that's true. I never read the graphic novel, and I don't have to. I just have to watch the movies, and the movie entertained me a great deal.
We have known for a while that a sequel would be coming, and now Chris Morgan, who co-wrote the movie, tells Splashpage, "the point is to continue the journey that Wes (James McAvoy) started in the first film. Wherever he ended up at the end of the film, now it's time to move him forward."
That's a classic non-answer, in a way. Just saying

Rumors about a sequel to Timur Bekmambetov’s “Wanted” popped up months ago, but now we have some confirmation about where the project is currently heading.
In talking to MTV, screenwriter Chris Morgan said he’s gearing up to write the script for “Wanted 2.”
“Yes, I will be writing it,” Morgan said. “I’m actually leaving this conversation with you to go to a meeting with the director, Timur [Bekmambetov], and we’re talking about the story.”
Not much else is known about the follow-up at this point, except that Mark Millar, co-creator of the “Wanted” comic book series, will probably be involved with the project.
In September, Millar said in an interview that he would provide Universal with a basic idea for a story.
Considering most character died in the first film, it will be tough to put together an intriguing story, which will focus on main character Wesley
