'Hancock 2,' 'Sin City 2' and 'Superman 2'

5 December 2008 1:51 AM, PST | From Rope of Silicon | See recent Rope Of Silicon news

Small snippets of news regarding Hancock 2, Sin City 2 and the Superman Returns follow-up hit the Net over the past 24 hours. They can hardly be considered "real" news, but I am sure some of you will find the updates interesting. First off, JoBlo talked to Will Smith regarding another Hancock film and got this: We just got done talking to Will Smith, who's promoting Seven Pounds, and he told us that we'll "definitely" be seeing a sequel. When we asked Will if he'd ever be up for playing another superhero he replied that there were a lot of unexplored characters in the Hancock universe that would be ripe for a sequel and confirmed that we'll definitely see the rumored Hancock 2 in a few years. Next, Frank Miller talked to IGN UK about the long gestating Sin City 2 and got some encouraging words: "Sin City 2 is written," he told the site.

Warner Bros's upcoming superhero movie Green Lantern may feature a cameo appearance from Superman, reports MTV. According to the film's screenwriter Marc Guggenheim, DC Comics's flagship hero makes a brief appearance in the script and the filmmakers are considering offering the part to Superman Returns star Brandon Routh or Smallville's Tom Welling. Guggenheim said: "I love that stuff in general, and I think the fans would enjoy it. Brandon Routh or even Tom Welling [in Green Lantern] (more)

Update On Superman Appearance In ‘Green Lantern’

2 December 2008 5:07 PM, PST | From ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news

So we here at Screen Rant are pretty good at thinking two steps ahead of the suits in Hollywood. That is to say, we can usually predict their next move before even they know what it is.

Screen Rant writer Jamie Williams has been the all-seeing, all-knowing, Oracle of everything Superman related. For proof of his precognitive prowess, just take a look at his early prediction that Superman Returns star Brandon Routh will most likely re-don the red and blue suit for the next supes film (which is still in the pipeline somewhere).

When the rumor mill started churning about a scene in the upcoming Green Lantern movie in which mild-mannered reporter Clark Kent pops up for a look at the new superhero on the block, the blogosphere went wild with speculation about which of the current Supermen (Smallville’s Tom Welling or Superman ReturnsBrandon Routh) would play Kent in the Green Lantern cameo.

'Green Lantern' Completes Third Draft Script

2 December 2008 12:13 PM, PST | From Comicmix.com | See recent Comicmix news

Yesterday, we speculated that Green Lantern was the DC hero next going before the cameras and MTV’s Splash Page then ran an interview with co-screenwriter Marc Guggenheim that confirms this projection.

“This morning, we sat down to talk Green Lantern,” Guggenheim told MTV, “and we ended up riffing for an hour and a half on another, much more obscure character. Sometimes, you just have to roll with it when inspiration strikes, you know? I’m sure the studio wouldn’t be happy about it, but we’re not going to blow the deadline. We’ll get it in.”

The screenplay was written by Guggenheim, Michael Green (Superman/Batman) and Greg Berlanti (Eli Stone) and after three drafts, they think it’s about ready for Berlanti to direct. Locations have been scouted and production designs have been crafted by Aaron Sims, who is also working on X-Men Origins: Magneto for director David S. Goyer.

Bosworth 'Stronger' After Early Fame

1 December 2008 11:07 AM, PST | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Kate Bosworth struggled to handle her "brutal" Hollywood success as a youngster - but is adamant the experience helped her to become a better person.

The actress landed her first big role at the age of 13 when she starred alongside Scarlett Johansson in 1998 film The Horse Whisperer, before really gaining the public's attention at 19 in hit surfer movie Blue Crush.

Bosworth has since gone on to star in a string of Hollywood films, including the coveted role of Lois Lane in blockbuster movie Superman Returns.

And she believes her experience of fame as a child, at a time when Hollywood had become fascinated with young movie stars, helped to make her "stronger".

She says, "The obsession with the young Hollywood group happened when I was young and in Hollywood. It sort of coincided all at the same time.

"At the time, when you're being dissected and judged it's pretty brutal, but in hindsight it's great and - it sounds cliched - you do come out the other side better and stronger."

Bosworth Avoids Personal Interviews

1 December 2008 8:06 AM, PST | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Hollywood actress Kate Bosworth is adamant she will never open up about her private life - because she fears it will alienate her fans.

The Superman Returns star, who is dating British musician James Rousseau, rarely discusses personal issues with the press.

And she insists she won't copy fellow celebrities who openly air their problems - as she believes the public don't want to know.

Bosworth says, "Some people talk about their personal lives a lot. I try not to, unless it's more of a generality. I don't want to broadcast my personal life because I feel it's off-putting.

"People are like, 'Oh, shut the f**k up. Cry me a river.' Who wants to hear the reality, really? You can't win."

Bosworth Prefers Dogs To Guys

30 November 2008 11:02 PM, PST | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Hollywood actress Kate Bosworth is adamant her pets take precedence over her love life - insisting she would kick a man out of her bed rather than disturb her beloved pooch.

The Superman Returns star is renowned for her love of animals and has a dog named Lila, whom she adopted while on a 2004 vacation in Morocco.

And Bosworth admits her boyfriend, British model James Rousseau, was less than impressed when he discovered that there would be a third party sharing their bed. But the actress was determined not to kick her canine companion out.

She says, "I love my dog. She's a cross-breed and so cute. I grew up with the dogs sleeping in the bed. My boyfriend found that odd the first few times he stayed over. The dog will stay in the bed before the man will."

Peters Hit With New Sexual Harassment Claims

29 November 2008 5:59 AM, PST | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Hollywood producer Jon Peters is facing more legal woes - he's been slapped with a sexual harassment lawsuit by male co-worker Brian Quintana.

The troubled Superman Returns moviemaker co-produced forthcoming sequel Superman: Man of Steel with Quintana.

But Quintana alleges he was subjected to numerous occasions of Peters' unacceptable behaviour throughout the project, including reportedly being touched inappropriately by the producer.

The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court earlier this week (ends28Nov08), claims there were "multiple instances where he was physically sexually harassed by Peters, including being groped by male individuals at Peters' behest".

The papers go on to state Peters would "wrestle and rough up (Quintana) in a sexual manner... fondle himself in front of (Quintana)... often place his hand on (Quintana's) leg in a sexual manner", as well as "touch" his buttocks, reports the New York Post's PageSix column.

Quintana further accuses Peters of demanding he "drive male individuals onto the set for the purposes of granting sexual favours for members of the cast and crew" and "cover up allegations that... Peters engaged in sexually inappropriate acts in front of children".

The court documents also claim Peters threatened to "break his legs" and fired Quintana when he refused to sign a legal declaration stating Peters had completed his community service sentence from a 2006 conviction for driving under the influence (DUI). He was ordered to complete 40 hours of community work following the incident.

A spokesperson for Peters had yet to return comment on the reports as WENN went to press.

Quintana's lawsuit is the latest of Peters' legal issues - he is also facing two sexual harassment suits filed by former female employees, and is reportedly in trouble with the law for violating his parole in relation to the DUI arrest.

Peters is scheduled to return to court on 16 January to address his alleged parole violations - including failure to complete an alcohol education program, not reporting to his probation officer, and failure to complete his community service.

Jon Peters has been hit with a shocking new barrage of sex charges - this time by a male staffer who claims the powerful Hollywood producer of "Superman Returns" and "Ali" sexually roughed him up and threatened to break his legs.

In a lawsuit filed this week in Los Angeles Superior Court, Brian Quintana - a co-producer with Peters on the upcoming "Superman: Man of Steel" - alleges that Peters subjected him to "continuous and pervasive sexual harassment."

“Superman Returns” Director in Talks for Warner Webisode

26 November 2008 1:12 PM, PST | From Tilzy.tv | See recent Tilzy.TV news

Superman Returns and X-Men director, Bryan Singer was recently approached by Warner Premiere to produce a webshow, reports Andrew Wallenstein of The Hollywood Reporter. The direct-to-video label is now one of many under the Warner umbrella investing in digital media. In fact, we’re having difficulty keeping all of Warner’s digital divisions straight. But the more the merrier, I suppose. The studio reached out to Bad Hat Harry Productions to develop the apocalyptic sci-fi thriller H+. The concept began as a television pitch by John Cabrera and Cosimo De Tommaso before being reworked for digital. The series will follow aftermath of a terrorist attack that has killed off a large portion of humanity. So, does it make sense for a direct-to-video division to dabble in digital media? “We knew from the beginning of setting up Warner Premiere that digital would be a big emphasis for us,” Premiere president Diane Nelson said.

Bryan Singer, Warner Prepping Sci-Fi Thriller Series ‘H+’

24 November 2008 4:01 PM, PST | From Tubefilter.tv | See recent Tubefilter News news

Director Bryan Singer (Superman Returns) and Warner Premiere are teaming up for a new sci-fi thriller series, H+, according to reports today. Produced through Singer's Bad Hat Harry Productions, H+ will be the first live-action web series out of Warner Premiere, the studio's digital production arm. Up until now Premiere has been focused on bringing a number of motion comics to the web including Superman, Batman: Mad Love and Watchmen. Earlier this month, they rolled out Peanuts, the studio's first fully animated comic web series. H+ is another future-based semi-apocalyptic sci-fi story, delving into what has been a hot plot line of late with the likes of MSN's Kirill, Nbcu's Gemini Division and indie series After Judgment. This one picks up after some sort of cyber-terrorist attack wipes out a large chunk of the world — a chunk that chose to have their brains directly wired into the internet. John Cabrera

Producer Peters Visited By Police

24 November 2008 8:05 AM, PST | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Hollywood producer Jon Peters has sparked reports he's at the centre of a new police investigation - weeks after reportedly violating his parole from a driving under the influence (DUI) charge in 2006.

The Superman Returns moviemaker faced a possible prison stint earlier this month for the violations, after pleading no contest to the DUI charge in February 2006.

In addition to the probation, he was ordered to complete community service with Homeboy Industries, an organisation which helps former gang members clean up their act after prison.

But a recent visit from an officer from the Santa Barbara sheriff's department has sparked reports he's in more legal trouble.

A source tells the New York Post, "Facing the likelihood that he might go to jail for violating his probation, Peters invited a dozen youths from Father Greg Boyle's nationally acclaimed Homeboy Industries to spend the weekend at his Santa Barbara-area ranch.

"For reasons unknown, Santa Barbara sheriff's deputies were dispatched to Peters' ranch on a recent weekend afternoon."

The Sheriff's Office confirmed officers received a "miscellaneous call" regarding Peters' El Capitan Horse Ranch but no incident was reported in the records.

Peters also faces two sexual harassment suits filed by female former employees.

Christine Nicholson, the manager of his ranch, said, "I really can't give you any information."

Peters is scheduled to return to court on 16 January to address his alleged parole violations - including failure to complete an alcohol education program, not reporting to his probation officer, and failure to complete 40 hours of community service.

Singer tightlipped over 'Superman'

22 November 2008 11:16 PM, PST | From Digitalspy | See recent digitalspy news

Bryan Singer has said that he cannot be drawn on the follow-up movie to Superman Returns. It has been rumoured that the superhero sequel will be darker than the first movie, in which the Man Of Steel returns to Earth after a mysterious absence. "At the moment, I can't really talk about that. I wish I could. From my perspective, I'm going to take a brief pause. This movie has taken a long time, so I'm going to take a pause. A movie like that takes some time to do right. That's all I can say about that," Singer told MTV. (more)

Now, he plays Colonel Claus von Staffenberg who was part of the scheme to assassinate Hitler. Bryan Singer ("The Usual Suspects," "X-Men," "Superman Returns") helms from the writing by Academy Award®-winning scripter (for "The Usual Suspects") Christopher McQuarrie. Joshua Oppenheimer and Thomas Dean Donnelly wrote the screenplay. On the casting tip, The Hollywood Reporter says Sammo Hung is in talks to star. ‘The Graysons’ Scrapped Before It Started

8 November 2008 9:23 AM, PST | From ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news

The CW have scrapped their plans to produce an origins-type show based on the pre-Robin days of Dick Grayson, called… The Graysons.

The decision to axe the show came from the same guy who first approved it, Warner Bros. production president Jeff Robinov.  Was Jeff reading Screen Rant?

When The Graysons was first announced, as we reported in early October, no one really took to it out here in the net-verse and to be honest, I wasn’t sure how we’d feel watching what should have been a pre-teen, whose parents eventually die.

In the comics mythos, Dick Grayson develops into the potential of what was to become Robin, the crime-fighting partner of The Batman, and then in later years, evolve into Nightwing.

But that very well could be the hang up.  It’s been said that there were concerns that The Graysons, being on-air during the release of

Superman, Batman producer Jon Peters charged with parole violation

7 November 2008 12:39 PM, PST | From Comicmix.com | See recent Comicmix news

The New York Post (I know, I know) reports that Jon Peters, the producer of Superman Returns and the Michael Keaton Batman films, has been charged with multiple violations of his parole stemming from a drunk-driving plea. Peters pleaded no contest to DUI after dozing off on the 101 Freeway in Ventura on Feb. 11, 2006. The Ventura County district attorney's office told Page Six Peters is due in court on Jan. 16 to answer charges he failed to complete an alcohol-education program, or report to his probation officer, or complete community service.

What's more, rumor has it a document submitted by the four-times-divorced filmmaker is being examined for alleged forgery, as it shows he did a required 40 hours of community service when he had finished only four. A Hollywood producer fudging numbers? Shocking.

Jon Peters, you may recall, is the bozo who wanted Kevin Smith to write a Superman script where Superman would
