Emily Blunt Reportedly Dating John Krasinski

20 November 2008 11:56 PM, PST | From icelebz.com | See recent iCelebz news

Emily Blunt is reportedly dating "Leatherheads" star John Krasinski. "The Devil Wears Prada" actress - who split from Canadian singer Michael Buble earlier this year after a three-year relationship - is said to have spent a romantic weekend with 29-year-old John in Santa Barbara, California, earlier this month.

A source told America's Star magazine: "They ordered room service, took long walks and spent every second together. John really cares for Emily - he totally fawns over her. And she is loving the attention. She's a down-to-earth girl, but it's nice to be treated so well."

British actress Emily, 25, recently revealed she feels like she doesn't fit in with the Hollywood lifestyle, because she dresses so scruffily.

She revealed: "I like fashion, I'm very partial to Marc Jacobs and Prada, but I don't want clothes to wear me. Ordinarily, I dress like a teenage boy in layered T-shirts and Converse gear.

30 October 2008 2:03 AM, PDT | From Aceshowbiz | See recent Aceshowbiz news

Heath Ledger's thrilling performance as Batman's psychotic villain, Joker, in "The Dark Knight" has brought him recognition from Australian Film Institute. On Wednesday, October 29 as the Australian Film Institute announced the nominees for L'Oreal Paris 2008 AFI Awards in Sydney, it was revealed that the late actor has been listed among the nominees for the international AFI award.

With the nod, Ledger is on the run for the title of AFI International Award for Best Actor. In the category, he will be contending with Eric Bana for "The Other Boleyn Girl", Russell Crowe for "American Gangster" and Jack Thompson for "Leatherheads". The actor who passed away late January 2008 has won the title in 2006 for his performance as homosexual cowboy in "Brokeback Mountain".

Win 'Leatherheads' on DVD from The Big Picture

27 September 2008 2:17 AM, PDT | From GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news

Leatherheads is new to DVD. The sports comedy directed by George Clooney is a big tip of the hat to Preston Sturgess and some of the other directors from the Golden Age of Hollywood.

It takes place at the dawn of the NFL, when college football was the real draw, and when professionals had to clear livestock off the playing surface, if their games didn't get cancelled for some other reason. Clooney stars with Renee Zellweger and John Krasinski, and we've got copies of Leatherheads on DVD for you, courtesy of Universal Home Entertainment.

For your chance to win, you just need to answer our Ridiculously Easy Movie Trivia question. Shoot us an e-mail and you'll be in our random drawing (we don't have an unlimited supply, you know).

Here's the question: What Super Bowl-winning quarterback appeared in The Cannonball Run?

Believe me, that's a question you don't hear often.

DVD Review: Leatherheads (2008)

26 September 2008 9:20 PM, PDT | From The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news

Apparently George Clooney thought he could attract an audience to a romantic comedy set in the world of early professional football. Apparently George Clooney was wrong. Even with himself and Renee Zellweger as the stars, 2008.s Leatherheads tanked. The flick grabbed $31 million and failed to impact with the public.

Set in 1925, Leatherheads shows the sport.s difficult early days. Though college football attracts big crowds, many fewer care about the pro game. Clooney plays Dodge Connolly, the aging leader of the Duluth Bulldogs. When the league sinks, Dodge recruits college star/war hero Carter Rutherford (John Krasinski) to play for the Bulldogs and resuscitate the ailing pro game.

One problem: newspaper reporter Lexie Littleton (Zellweger) gets an assignment to do an exposé on Carter. It turns out he may not have executed too many heroics during World War I, so Lexie.s supposed to reveal the truth behind Carter.s much-heralded reputation.

DVD Review: Leatherheads

23 September 2008 1:00 AM, PDT | From Rope of Silicon | See recent Rope Of Silicon news

If there's one thing we've learned over the years, it's that actors should usually stay in front of the camera and leave directing to those focused enough to control the magic. While the Academy has undoubtedly given unfair reward to the likes of Robert Redford, Ron Howard, Kevin Costner, and even Clint Eastwood over the years, the truth is that most actor-helmed movies are sh!t. George Clooney, of all people, has proven to be an incredible exception to the rule with Confessions of a Dangerous Mind and Good Night, and Good Luck. With Leatherheads, his attempt at a screwball comedy centered on the rough, early days of pro football, he's fallen into the trap. Clooney stars as the aging bad-boy player Dodge Connelly and John Krasinski as fresh-faced rising star Carter Rutherford, Leatherheads attempts to chronicle the origins of the league in a "kooky" manner meant to reflect just how crazy the times were.

Rant: Renee Zellweger Ruins History

19 September 2008 12:36 PM, PDT | From cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news

First, let's give Renee Zellweger credit where it is due. She's turned in some great comedic performances in the Bridget Jones movies-- even when the movies were no good--and actually made us believe it when Tom Cruise told her that she completed him in Jerry Maguire. But her roles this decade have mostly been set in the past, and whether the movie took place in the Old West or the screwball 1930s, Zellweger has been the worst part of it. Filmmakers, take note: Renee Zellweger will ruin your period piece, and only you can prevent this from happening. Ed Harris is the latest to fall victim to her curse, completely miscasting her as a seductress of the Wild West in Appaloosa. But George Clooney made the exact same mistake six months ago, casting Zellweger in Leatherheads as a sassy 30s spitfire, like Rosalind Russell in His Girl Friday? George ...

Zellweger, Whitaker take road trip in ‘Song’

Olivier Dahan’s drama “My Very Own Love Song” will head into principal photography next month, and Forest Whitaker and Renee Zellweger are on board to star in the lead roles, according to Variety.

The plot centers on a disabled ex-singer who embarks on a road trip to Memphis with a close friend. They’ve both had their share of tragedies over the years, and they both give each other the necessary support to make the best out of life.

Dahan is best known for last year’s Oscar-winning Edith Piaf biopic “La Vie En Rose” (La Môme ).

Whitaker last starred in “Street Kings” and has several projects awaiting release, including “Powder Blue” and “Repossession Mambo.”

Zellweger was last seen alongside George Clooney in “Leatherheads.” She will next star in Ed Harris’ western “Appaloosa,” followed by Christian Alvart’s horror thriller “Case 39.”

Clooney's Future is 'Up in the Air' with Jason Reitman

28 August 2008 9:38 AM, PDT | From GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news

There's no question that Jason Reitman has fashioned a career for himself the right way. He's chosen smart, offbeat projects that have exceeded critical and commercial expectation with Thank You for Smoking and Juno. Smoking made back about four times its budget in the U.S. (nearly seven times what it cost worldwide), and snagged Aaron Eckhart a much-deserved Golden Globe nomination.

Juno, as we're well aware, is one of the biggest independent movies ever made. How many other $7.5 million flicks have produced over $200 million at the box office? I'm going to say not many. And it won a Best Screenplay Oscar while receiving nominations for Best Actress, Picture, and Director for Reitman.

For his next trick, Reitman will fly the less-than-friendly skies with an adaptation of the Walter Kirn novel Up in the Air. According to Variety, Reitman has been infatuated with the novel for some time, working on

Director Blasts Fox and "Terrible" 'Babylon A.D.' Experience

26 August 2008 1:39 AM, PDT | From GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news

Some actors will tow the line forever, not once admitting they've done a bad movie or worked with assholes. Others will begrudgingly open up about flawed films a few years down the line. Very few go the George Clooney route of badmouthing a big film they're in (Batman & Robin) or a director they've worked with (David O. Russell) nearly as soon as the movie's out of theaters. He can get away with it, though, even with Leatherheads.

Mathieu Kassovitz, however, may be another story. He's an actor (Amelie's boyfriend) and director (Gothika), but he may not get the call from a major studio for a while. Talking to Amctv, Kassovitz blasted his new film, Babylon A.D., before it opens. Now that takes balls. There is plenty of skepticism about the movie anyway. For starters, it's coming out on August 29th, one of the two or three worst weekends in every year.

Clooney ready for ‘The Challenge’

13 August 2008 7:22 AM, PDT | From screeninglog.com | See recent screeninglog news

George Clooney has acquired the rights to develop a big-screen version of Jonathan Mahler’s thriller “The Challenge,” according to Variety.

The book focuses on the struggle by U.S. Navy lawyer Charles Swift and law professor Neal Katyal to guarantee a fair trial for Salim Hamdan, the bodyguard and driver of Osama bin Laden.

At this stage, it’s not clear what role Clooney will play in the project, but he has the options to write, direct and topline the drama.

Considering Clooney’s excellent performance in Tony Gilroy’s recent legal thriller “Michael Clayton,” I would really like to see the actor take on one of the lead roles.

As far as helming goes, why not go for it? Apart from “Leatherheads,” Clooney proved he’s a dab hand at directing himself and others.

George Clooney packs for ‘The Tourist’

12 June 2008 8:17 AM, PDT | From screeninglog.com | See recent screeninglog news

The film doesn’t have a script or director yet, but the lead actor is already on board. Variety today reported George Clooney has signed on to star in “The Tourist,” the adaptation of Olen Steinhauser’s novel of the same title.

Warner Bros. recruited Anthony Peckham to write the screenplay for the film, which focuses on a spy who risks his life to uncover a conspiracy after he’s wrongfully accused of murder.

Peckham, whose writing credits include 2001’s thriller “Don’t Say A Word,” also recently adapted John Carlin’s book for Clint Eastwood’s upcoming film “The Human Factor,” a look at the life and career of Nelson Mandela.

Clooney was last seen in “Leatherheads” and will next star in the Coen brothers’ comedy “Burn After Reading.”

With Clooney already on board, they should ask Tony Gilroy to direct. Both did a nice job working together on “Michael Clayton,

Theaters Celebrate Prom Night

14 April 2008 10:33 AM, PDT | From Studio Briefing | See recent Studio Briefing news

After months of frightful box-office performances by horror flicks, Sony/Screen Gems's Prom Night debuted with $22.7 million over the weekend at the high end of analysts' predictions. It was the best debut for a horror film this year. In second place was Fox Searchlight's R-rated Street Kings, starring Keanu Reeves and Forest Whitaker, which brought in an estimated $12 million. In its third week, 21 was still showing a strong hand as it took in $11 million. Everything else on the theater marquees looked weak, however, as the box office wound up with less revenue than it did a year ago for the fourth straight weekend. The top 12 films earned $82.6 million, more than 19 percent below what it took in during the comparable weekend last year. The fourth-ranked film, Fox's Nim's Island, brought in $9 million, while the George Clooney drama Leatherheads rounded out the top five with $6.2 million. The only other film to open wide this weekend, Miramax's Smart People, wound up with $4.2 million, to place seventh. The top ten films for the weekend, according to studio estimates compiled by Media by Numbers:1. Prom Night, $22.7 million; 2. Street Kings, $12 million; 3. 21, $11 million; 4. Nim's Island, $9 million; 5. Leatherheads, $6.2 million; 6. Horton Hears a Who!, $6 million; 7. Smart People, $4.2 million; 8. The Ruins, $3.3 million; 9. Superhero Movie, $3.1 million; 10. Drillbit Taylor, $2.1 million.
