I never thought I'd say this, but I feel sorry for Mr. Skin. I also feel sorry for the Detroit Lions, which I also never thought I'd say, but Mr. Skin has had a rough year.
The purveyor of the prurient is back with another list of the best nude scenes of the year, and let's just say it can't compare to 2007, with Maria Tomei in Before the Devil Knows You're Dead, Natalie Portman in Hotel Chevalier, and Christina Ricci in Black Snake Moan. I mean, I'm not even sure that there are actually 20 nude scenes here, and among those that might be, there aren't a whole lot of big names, the kind of thing that really makes this list worthwhile.
So while the list is still worth checking out, the inclusion of porn Frankenstein Jenna Jameson from Zombie Strippers kind of tells you all you need to know, doesn't it?

From the Archives of Fangoria comes an encore presentation of Screamography: Stuart Gordon. View the 30-minute special below, then check out the trailer for his recent film Stuck.
"When your body of work is as eclectic as writer/director Stuart Gordon's, it's easy to see why he would be pretty psyched for what lies ahead... because you know it's going to be something unconventional. This is Stuart Gordon, in his words, told to Fangoria's Tony Timpone. This is his Screamography."

This is a great film featuring stellar performances from Stephen Rea and Mena Suvari and sardonic wit and direction by Stuart Gordon best known for 80’s cult flicks like Re-Animator and From Beyond. Lately Gordon has tried his hand at less supernaturally based material. But his adaptation of David Mamets Edmund, as well acted as it was, wasn’t anywhere near as inspired as this often funny, gruesomely pointed film commentary on modern selfishness and societal indifference.
Brandi is a party girl desperately trying to get promoted at the assisted living center where she works as a caregiver. After some hard clubbing, she hits a man with her car while driving home. Thomas is only recently homeless but now he’s stuck in Brandi’s windshield. Brandi now does what anyone would do at this point- she drives home, locks the car in the garage and in terror of not

The big one this week is, of course, Ghost House Underground's massive 8 film horror boxed set. Of course if that's not enough Halloween horror for you, Anchor Bay is releasing a new Halloween: 30th Anniversary Box which includes the original '78 film restored, along with Halloween 4: The Return Of Michael Myers, Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers, and the Halloween: 25 Years Of Terror bonus disc. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, the much-anticipated and only mildly disappointing return of Harrison Ford's iconic action hero, leads off this week's crop of new DVD releases. We recommend the Blu-ray 2-Disc Special Edition, featuring a gaggle of special features and behind-the-scenes featurettes -- all in sparkling HD. (Don't look for alternate endings or deleted scenes, though; Senor Spielbergo has never been fond of such things.) There are also several exclusive editions, featuring unique items like giant, creepy crystal skull replicas (pictured left), available at retail chains Circuit City, Best Buy, Kmart, Sears, and Trans-World.
Also debuting today on DVD: War Inc., John Cusack's sequel to Grosse Pointe Blank political satire of corporate-managed warfare; Stuck, Stuart Gordon's quirky horror-comedy about a man trapped in a car windshield; and the animated hit The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything: A Veggie Tales Movie.

Director Stuart Gordon (Re-Animator, From Beyond) delivers what Variety dubbed an “ingeniously nasty and often shockingly funny” film when Image Entertainment debuts Stuck on DVD and Blu-ray™ October 14. Mena Suvari (American Beauty), Academy Award® nominee Stephen Rea (Best Actor, The Crying Game, 1993), and Russell Hornsby (Meet the Parents, Big Fat Liar) star in the darkly humorous psychological thriller about a young woman who commits a hit-and-run, then finds her fate tied to her victim.

Mena Suvari is engaged to music producer/concert promoter Simone Sestito, who proposed during their vacation to Jamaica, her reps tell People. The 29-year-old actress met Sestito last year at the Toronto International Film Festival while Suvari was promoting her film Stuck. No wedding date has been set."They're taking their time planning the wedding," says a source close to the actress. "They are in no rush." Survari will be seen in the Lifetime movie Murder in Sin City in September, and in the period piece Garden of Eden later this year.

Apologies for the lack of updates the past couple of days. I blame the exhaustingly stylized, rockabilly zombie movie Flick, which engendered so much cinematic bile, I feared the excess would leak into the other films I had planned to discuss. Luckily, today’s festival topping (so far) double feature comprised of Stuart Gordon’s horror morality tale Stuck (review) and a dark and moving adaptation of Jack Ketchum Red (review), finally expectorated the celluloid loogie I had built up. With Flick spat to the gutter, let’s talk about the good stuff we saw!
Day eleven was a high point of the festival, a day that elevated the found footage horror genre with Christopher Denham’s Home Movie (review), produced by Andrew van den Houten (who we earlier reported is set to start shooting Jack Ketchum’s Offspring). Paul also caught Trailer Park of Terror (review), a fun trailer

There is an adage about looking at a car crash and as horrific as it is you just cannot turn your head away. What if I told you that I saw I car crash last night and I didn’t want to turn my head away, that I leaned forward in my seat, that I was horrified but I also laughed uproariously at the carnage in front of me. You would think that I was a sick freak. And while it may be years before that is proved in a court of law follow me for a minute here.

Despite the imprimatur of enthusiasts like Quentin Tarantino, there's hardly any place for accomplished low-budget genre trash in American theaters these days, so the fact that Stuart Gordon's savagely funny black comedy Stuck is getting released at all speaks to its quality. The hook is a doozy, ripped from a tabloid headline that sounds like urban legend: Back in 2003, a woman from Ft. Worth was involved in a hit-and-run incident in which she struck a homeless man with her car and left him to die in her garage for two days with his head lodged in the windshield. This sounds like the makings of a lurid psychodrama, but Gordon (whose career includes the cult favorite Re-Animator and the underrated David Mamet adaptation Edmond) lets his imagination run wild and extends an already juicy premise into even pulpier territory. Donning cornrows for a white-trash edge, Mena Suvari stars...

While chatting with Director Stuart Gordon last week about his forthcoming hit-and-run thriller Stuck, SpookyDan discovered some disheartening news about the long-delayed Re-animator sequels. Originally planned to kick off a brand new trilogy, it looks like the extension to the franchise won't be happening - or at least anytime soon. One of the most popular gore clicks of all-time is Stuart Gordon's Re-animator, which has swamped numerous sequels. The next film on the slate was House Of Re-animator, which would have pit Herbert West against the President of the United States. Gordon explains that the more he thought about the idea, the more it seemed a little dated...

Last week B-d stringer SpookyDan took a trip to Hollywood where he sat down and chatted with legendary director Stuart Gordon about his latest genre effort, Stuck, which arrives in limited theaters this Friday (May 30). Brandi (Mena Suvari) hits Tom (Stephen Rea) with her car on her way home from a night of partying. With Tom still alive but lodged through her windshield, she promises to go a hospital but then decides to leave Tom to die in her garage as she realizes that her future is inextricably tied to her victim. Realizing this plan, Tom knows escape is his only chance for survival. Stuck is director Stuart Gordons latest genre-thriller that was actually based on a true story. When chatting with the legendary director, we talked a bit about how cold it was of these individuals that he read about in the papers.

Though cult filmmaker Stuart Gordon is most revered for his many screen adaptations of horror legend H. P. Lovecraft's work (including "Re-Animator" and "From Beyond"), his latest could be read as the final leg of an angry American trilogy that began with 2003's "King of the Ants" and continued with his 2005 adaptation of David Mamet's "Edmond." In just over an hour and a half, "Stuck" is at once a caustically funny economic drama, a moral thriller and a survival horror flick, all based on a bizarre but true story. Mena Suvari stars as Brandi, a nursing home caretaker who, after partying a little too hard one night, hits recently downsized sad-sack Tom (Stephen Rea) with her car. He doesn't die, but is slowly bleeding to death while half-embedded in her windshield, forcing a panicked Brandi to stupidly decide to leave him in the garage as she

Mena Suvari and Stephen Rea are retelling the gruesome real-life story of a woman who left a homeless man stuck in the windshield of her car after a hit and run accident in a new movie.
In Stuck, Rea plays a character based on Gregory Biggs, who was left to die a painful death in the garage of Texas woman Chante Jawan Mallard, while helplessly lodged in her car's windscreen.
Mallard, who was believed to have been driving while intoxicated by drugs and alcohol at the time of the 2001 incident, was later convicted and sentenced to 50 years' imprisonment for her role in Biggs' death.
The gruesome death, which was also a storyline for a Csi: Crime Scene Investigation episode, is now being played out by Rea andSuvari, and the actress admits the role was among her most difficult.
She says, "It was awkward in a lot of ways. Stephen was tired of being stuck in a windshield and it was intense because it wasn't cozy. We were filming in New Brunswick, and it was freezing.
"Also the real man, he passed away. His name was Gregory Biggs, he was 37 years old. I didn't want to be seen to be having too much of a grand old time because I didn't want to disrespect anyone. It was a tough shoot."
