With the holiday shopping season officially upon us, I figured it might be a good idea to start making some recommendations for the lucky horror-loving folks on your lists!
Being that Blu-ray has officially been accepted as the next step in home video entertainment, I expect that a lot of PlayStation 3's and stand-alone Blu-ray players are going to be pretty hot items this year, but what of the movies available for them? Before we get into my picks, let's take a second to explain how I rated them. They're broken down into three categories:

Now that we've entered the final month of the year, look for our site (and several others) to spend some time looking back at 2008. We here at Cinematical will kick off our year-end festivities real soon, but in the meantime Yahoo Movies was first out of the gate with a list of the most popular movie trailers of 2008. Keep in mind this is only according to Yahoo's numbers and represents the most watched, not necessarily the best (we'll have that list later this month).
As expected, a good majority of this list is made up of big summer blockbuster-type stuff, and guess which flick leads the pack? Yup, the one with that damn bat. The top two (Dark Knight and Indiana Jones) don't surprise me in the least, but the next two are ... Twilight (3) and The Incredible Hulk (4)? Really? Those vampires even beat everyone's favorite boy wizard, Harry Potter, who

Could Frank Martin, the titular "transporter" from the popular action series The Transporter, be gay? I'd be lying if I said I didn't think the films were a little homoerotic but I didn't think Jason Statham's character was literally a homosexual. Turns out though that's exactly what Louis Leterrier, director of Transporter 2 and later The Incredible Hulk, had in mind. Leterrier said that he shot the second Transporter film with Statham as a gay character saying, "If you...

You have to admit, as far as stingers go (scenes after a film's credits), Iron Man had a pretty kick-ass idea. Not only setting up the idea that we will have an Avengers movie soon, but introducing Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury? It doesn't get much better than that. Then, of course, you had the cool crossover in The Incredible Hulk with Tony Stark showing up. So, what can we expect from the upcoming swath of Marvel Movies? Iron Man 2 screenwriter Justin Theroux says he has no idea yet. The writer told MTV Splashpage that no conversations are going on between the writers of the various movies. Theroux clarifies that this is a good thing though. The potential is there for all sorts of cool crossovers, but nothing is being sent down as a requirement. The studio is focused more on making great individual movies, and then allowing

Poor Hulk! Batman, Iron Man, even Wolverine get more sequel press than he does. But late last week, Tim Blake Nelson revealed to MTV that he had signed for Hulk sequels, with every intention of taking the villainous center stage as The Leader. But like the rest of us, he has no idea whether or not they'll come to be, or whether or not Edward Norton will return. "It's all good, and I really do hope [the sequel] happens, for all sorts of reasons. But yeah, we did, we had a great time on Hulk together. I'm eager to do Hulk 2 if they make it ... I'm signed on to do Hulk 2 and 3 whether Edward's there or not, so it's not even up to me ... I certainly hope Edward is on the sequel - but that's up to Marvel and Edward."
Meanwhile, over in Avengers land, Robert Downey Jr. mentioned again

The huge website that is Aint It Cool News has caught up with actor/ filmmaker Tim Blake Nelson about his role in a proposed sequel to this year's The Incredible Hulk, which is in the works apparently. Apparently Nelson is up to play the bad guy in the new peace, a cat called The Leader. Here's an excerpt.
Quint: Great well what about a potential Hulk sequel? Gale Anne Hurd's been going around talking about how you might be The Leader and the main villain of the next one.
Tim Blake Nelson: That's the plan. That's what they tell me, but I don't know when that's happening or what the details are but I am eager to do it and I hear that's in the works. I would tell you if I knew more, but I honestly don't.
Quint: Yeah, but you haven't played a comic-book villain yet right?

Ain’t It Cool News talked with Tim Blake Nelson recently about his role as Samuel Sterns in this past summer’s Marvel Studios hit “The Incredible Hulk.” Nelson chatted about the possibility of returning as Sterns in his supervillain role, the mutated genius known as The Leader, for a potential Hulk sequel. Nelson says that in regards to statements by “The Incredible Hulk” producer Gale Ann Hurde about his returning, “[t]hat’s the plan. Let's get started shall we... First off, Sony Pictures is handling the international distribution of Terminator Salvation and as a coming out prize they bring a Flash animated motion poster picturing the destruction of Los Angeles as it turns into the robotic face of a Terminator. Telling MTV that he and Edward Norton joked about The Incredible Hulk "a little bit" while making their upcoming drama, Leaves of Grass, actor-writer-director Tim Blake Nelson confirmed that he's a go for any Hulk sequels that come along.
“Well, I’m signed on to do Hulk 2 and 3 whether Edward’s there or not, so it’s not even up to me,” said Nelson, addressing rumors that Norton wouldn't be asked back by Marvel. “When I agreed to do Hulk, I signed off for two sequels, so it’s a moot question. I certainly hope Edward is on the sequel — but that’s up to Marvel and Edward.”
If you'll remember, Nelson played Dr. Samuel Sterns in the summer comic book reboot. That character later becomes The Leader in the comics, and it sounds like he may factor in to the film series, too, if Nelson is on board for two sequels.

Although a sequel to "The Incredible Hulk" hasn't really been officially confirmed yet, chances are we'll sooner or later see one anyway.
No matter what will happen, "Hulk 2" already seems to have its villain. And according to AICN, that villain is the Leader.
In a recent interview, Tim Blake Nelson, who played Samuel Sterns in the recent "Hulk" reboot, told AICN that he may be the main bad guy in the sequel.
"That’s the plan. That’s what they tell me, but I don’t know when that’s happening or what the details are but I am eager to do it and I hear that’s in the works. I would tell you if I knew more, but I honestly don’t," he told Quint.
For Nelson, playing the Leader would mark hs debut as a comic-book villain. He said, "No, but I had a great time doing Hulk,

I seriously can't imagine yet another Hulk movie making its way to theaters. This year's franchise reboot was a much better picture, but wasn't any better accepted by fans, leading me to believe that the Hulk just isn't a character destined for big screen success. A low box office return aside, Universal is still discussing the notion of bringing everyone back for a sequel to The Incredible Hulk, including Edward Norton as Bruce Banner, if they can get him after the problems the first movie had. Who would the Green Goliath face off with in a second movie? Well, if you saw The Incredible Hulk, you probably already know - Tim Blake Nelson played Dr. Samuel Sterns, who we lost saw having a bad reaction to a sample of Bruce Banner's blood. Sure enough, Nelson confirmed with MTV's Splash Page that he is committed to two sequels, and he hopes

MTV recently caught up with writer/director/actor Tim Blake Nelson (O Brother Where Art Thou?) and picked his gamma-contaminated brain about reprising his role as Dr. Samuel Sterns in the rumored-to-be-happening sequel to this summer’s moderately successful Marvel reboot, The Incredible Hulk.
Note: The interview with Nelson was a follow-up to an interview MTV did with super-producer Gale Ann Hurd (The Terminator Trilogy, Hulk, Punisher: War Zone), in which Hurd made it clear that it is her intention to see Incredible Hulk 2 make it into theaters, ideally with all of the original cast in tow.
So what do Hurd’s words mean for Tim Blake Nelson’s future? Last we saw Dr. Samuel Stern, he was seeing green after a beaker of Bruce Banner’s gamma-radiated blood spilled on his noggin. So if everything goes according to Hurd’s plan, expect Doc Stern to become the the

While Edward Norton's future with The Incredible Hulk franchise may be in limbo, both Tim Blake Nelson and producer Gale Anne Hurd spoke positively to MTV about the future of the Hulk sequels. Hurd noted that having Nelson return in Hulk 2 as The Leader "would be a blast" and that Norton's involvement will "depend on the screenplay and where his character goes in any sequel, because he does have a multiple-picture deal."
Meanwhile, Nelson is pretty excited to battle Hulk in the upcoming sequel, with or without Norton. "When I agreed to do 'Hulk,' I signed off for two sequels, so it's a moot question. I certainly hope Edward is on the sequel -- but that's up to Marvel and Edward."

According to MTV Gale Ann Hurd the producer of The Incredibly Hulk has been in talks with Tim Blake Nelson about the upcoming Hulk 2 sequel. Or at least the Hulk 2 sequel that is rumored. Tim Blake Nelson told MTV that he will reprise his role as The Leader in the second film to challenge the Hulks might with his super brain. You will recall that The Leader appears in the first Hulk film as 'Mr Blue' and his brain is accidentally exposed to Hulks mutated blood which turns him into the 'The Leader'. I can see this being a great opportunity for the film to continue to expand and ...

Tim Blake Nelson reached out to MTV, sharing his excitement concerning Gale Anne Hurd's plan to have him playing the next Hulk's villain, The Leader, in the sequel of Edward Norton-starring movie "The Incredible Hulk". With The Incredible Hulk now out on DVD, the number of fans who want to see another sequel is constantly growing. As much as we'd all like to believe that Universal is already in pre-production on a sequel, that's just not the case. We've been reporting the minor details over the last few months, but nothing concrete. MTV caught up with Tim Blake Nelson recently who confirmed that he actually signed on for a trilogy, but doesn't know if they'll actually eventually get made or not. For those wondering why Blake Nelson is important, he's the one who turns into the villain named Leader near the end of the movie. "I'm signed on to do Hulk 2 and 3 whether Edward's there or not, so it's not even up to me," Blake Nelson told MTV. "When I agreed to do Hulk, I signed off for two sequels, so it's a moot

I'm pretty much an anachronism. I still do things like buy and rent DVDs. Heck, I even go see movies in theaters from time to time. That's old news; headed the way of the buggy whip. These days nobody pays to watch movies. They download them for free on the Internet. According to Torrent Freak, The Dark Knight will lead the way this year as the most illegally downloaded film of 2008. DVD-rips of the grim superhero epic were downloaded off BitTorrent more than a million times this week. That makes it the most downloaded movie of the week and the site figures it will"crush Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk and Transformers, as it will easily become this year's most pirated movie." Anything that crushes crap like Transformers is good in my book. While I'm sure the producers would like to have the money they lost to pirating, they will
