The original Prom Night was based on a screenplay written by William Gray and Robert Guza, Jr. Prom Night (2008) was written by J.S. Cardone.

This question has a yes and no answer. Prom Night (2008) is a remake in terms of having someone stalk and murder high school seniors at their prom. But, in the original, the killer was out for revenge on those who, by accident, killed his younger sister. In this 2008 horror film, the killer was bent on killing those who knew a particular senior, Donna Keppell, making her realize that she has no one left and she might come with him.

Detective Nash was murdered by Richard Fenton at the Keppell's home before Detective Winn and back-up could arrive at the scene.

No. Lisa Hines and Ronnie Keflin are voted the prom king and queen.

the show that Donna is watching towards the end of the film is Can't Hardly Wait (1998)

Donna's mother, father and younger brother. A hotel bellhop and a maid. Claire, Lisa and Michael. Detective Nash and another on-duty police officer at the Keppell residence after the prom.
